Introducing Speed x Strength Academy

A New Collaboration between True Athlete Performance & Power Train

Speed X Strength is an advanced, 2-day/week in-person training system designed to help athletes get stronger and faster off the field/court…so they can be more powerful on game day.

Led by Speed Coach Chris Clark of TrueAP and Strength Coaches Caisse Larimore and Calvin Sichler of Power Train, the program balances on-field speed and weight room sessions with cutting-edge education on training philosophy, technique, and athletic development.

This program is for males/females grades 8-12 seeking to train at an elite level.

Our Process

TEST

How do we test athletes?

Athletes undergo pre and post testing similar to those used in the combines and college showcases. On the field, we'll use laser timing systems the athlete's acceleration (0-10yd/10-20yd), max speed and 40yd dash. In the weight room, we'll test the 1 rep max for Back Squat, Bench Press, and Vertical Jump.

ANALYZE

Why did we produce those results?

We analyze each athlete's speed scores to evaluate strengths and weaknesses in early acceleration, late acceleration, and max speed. We'll analyze each athlete's strength scores to evaluate strengths and weaknesses in producing vertical and horizontal power.

TRAIN

How do we improve?

We train to improve power. Power = Force x Velocity. In order to improve force and velocity we train in 3 buckets.

Physical

Resisted Sprints
Periodized Strength Training
Plyometrics

Technical

Speed: A Series, Acceleration/Horizontal Drills, Max Velocity/Vertical Drills

Strength: Range of Motion and Tempo

Stimulus

Increase Exposure to Accelerations, High Speed Running and Strength Training.

EVALUATE

Did we improve?

The program concludes with retesting so athletes can see and track results over time and we can learn how you are responding to your program and make adjustments to keep you achieving the best results possible.
