RODNEY DORSEY, JR.

Rodney Dorsey, Jr., a Frederick, Maryland native, attended Tuscarora High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically before embarking on a collegiate career that solidified his dedication to sports and mentorship.

After attending Towson University for two years, Rodney found his calling at Shepherd University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Recreation & Leisure with a concentration in Sports Communication and a minor in Business Administration in the spring of 2021. His thirst for knowledge and ambition led him to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration, further enhancing his skills and expertise in leadership and management. He plans to return to school to get his Doctorate in Business Administration.

Rodney’s athletic journey is a testament to his versatility and dedication. From a young age, he immersed himself in a multitude of sports, including football, soccer, track, baseball, and basketball. In high school, Rodney’s talent on the football field and baseball diamond earned him numerous accolades, including All-County and All-State honors, as well as the prestigious title of Frederick County Football Player of the Year for the 2016-2017 season.

Continuing his athletic endeavors at the collegiate level, Rodney distinguished himself as a standout football player at both Towson and Shepherd University. His achievements include being named to All-CAA Second Team and earning spots on the PSAC teams, while also contributing to two regional championships.

In 2019, Rodney joined the TrueAP team, driven by his desire to make a meaningful impact on athletes’ lives. TrueAP provided him with a platform to connect with athletes from diverse backgrounds, inspiring and guiding them to excel not only in sports but also in life.

Rodney’s passion for working with athletes is fueled by the profound connections he forms and the opportunity to be a positive influence in their lives. He believes in being more than just a coach, striving to cultivate strong mentorship relationships with his athletes on and off the field.

As a site lead and performance coach, Rodney distinguishes himself with his emphasis on personalized coaching and mentorship. His specialization lies in speed training, particularly in the realm of football, where he leverages his expertise to enhance athletes’ performance.
